world preset india: shaped after an Indian restaurant platform, with a UAE arm · clock IST
Public knowledge
- INR at the fixed demo rate 1 INR = 0.0437 AED (canon/fx.py); India runs on IST (Asia/Kolkata, UTC+5:30, no daylight saving), so the world clock is IST and the UAE sits 1.5 hours behind it.
- GST on restaurant food is 5%; UAE VAT is 5%. The Indian working week mostly rests Saturday and Sunday.
- Zomato and Swiggy carry most food-delivery orders in India; magicpin and Thrive also take restaurant orders, and ONDC is the government-backed open network some restaurants list on. Restaurants also take orders on their own website or app and by phone.
- Petpooja, Restroworks (formerly Posist), Rista, Torqus and LimeTray sell restaurant POS in India; Shadowfax, Porter, Delhivery and Dunzo run hyperlocal delivery for businesses; Tally is the common accounting system for Indian SMBs; Epson, Star and TVS Electronics sell receipt printers there; Oracle Simphony is common in large hotels.
- Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad are the large food-delivery metros; neighbourhood names and their approximate centres are public geography.
- Zomato and Swiggy have publicly reported average food order values in the ₹400s; the price level here is set so the average delivered Indian order lands near that.
- The UAE part (Dubai and Abu Dhabi, its apps, POS vendors and dispatch fleets) is the gulf preset's UAE with fewer stores.
Assumed
- Every share and probability: which apps a store is listed on and how its demand splits (Zomato 52%, Swiggy 40%, magicpin 4%, ONDC 2%, Thrive 2% of aggregator demand where listed); POS, printer, KDS, ERP and dispatch shares; the cuisine mix.
- Commission ranges and menu mark-ups per app, the order volume per store, and the number of stores per city (Mumbai 1,100, Bengaluru 1,100, Delhi 1,050, Hyderabad 650; Dubai 560, Abu Dhabi 240).
- The hourly order curve (lunch peak 13:00-14:00, dinner peak 20:00-22:00 IST) and no seasonal dip.
- Dunzo's share is kept small: its operations were scaled back sharply and its current state is not verified here.
- Vendor version numbers, install weights, error rates and token lifetimes, Fresh KDS as the kitchen display, the Petpooja 3.19.1 release regression and every other incident are invented.
- Menu items and prices come from the shared cuisine catalogue converted at the price level, so single items can look cheap or dear for a given city.
- Platform fees (subscription, per-order and setup) are the platform's AED list prices converted at the fixed rate, not an Indian price list.
- Merchant, brand-group and hotel names come from the shared name parts, which lean Gulf (brand groups such as 'Al Marri Hospitality', hotel outlets such as 'Al Majlis'); customer success managers are invented people.
